ABOUT ME
I have been working for more than 10 years as an academic researcher on the governance of risk across different countries (Germany, UK, France, and more) and sectors (energy, natural disasters, terrorism). My research has been strongly interdisciplinary, reflecting the nature of the research theme of risk and my educational background (political science, human geography, political economy).
Most of my research was undertaken at King's College London but I have also been affiliated with the Free University of Brussels (VUB), the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin) and - most recently - the Catholic University of Louvain (UC Louvain).
My research projects have been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (UK), the Belgian Research Council (F.R.S.-FNRS), and the EU-FP7 Programme. In 2012, a paper based on my thesis won the Giandomenico Majone Prize of the European Consortium for Political Research.
